Hi WAC fans!

This is my final blog before you get to start hearing from other WAC athletes so I'm pleased to tell you that Boise gymnastics had back to back wins this weekend.  On Friday our team had a great competition against Wisconsin Stout and against Utah State yesterday.  It was our first double meet weekend but all of our competitors looked great!!

On Friday the team hosted our annual "Pink Night" to raise awareness for breast cancer and research.   We took home a win with a 195.125 to Wisconsin Stout's 181.325.  The competition was fun as some of the girls put new skills into their routines for the first time.  For example, Katie Tuller competed a full-out dismount on bars and Kelsey Black put a full-in double back on the floor for the first time this season.  We were all so proud of them.  The next day we came back to the arena for an activation workout (running/stretching/film) to get our bodies ready for another competition the following day.

On Sunday, we competed against Utah State for the 2nd time this season and were happy to come out with a 195.475 to 192.650 win.  Some highlights of this meet included Hailey Gaspar tying her career record on vault with a 9.95, Lindsay Kazandijian won her first beam title of the season with a 9.8925, and Amy Glass won floor with her career best of 9.9.  The whole team did a great job and left the arena with our heads held high for the second time that weekend.

The Broncos are very excited to host the last home meet of the season on Friday against Southern Utah University.  It will also be Senior night and "Parents Night."  Please come out and support the Boise State gymnast for what we expect to be a very exciting night of competition.

Thanks for all the support WAC fans!

Hey WAC fans!

We just returned from our trip to Logan, Utah.  We had the entire team travel this meet on our five hour bus trip to Utah State.  We all worked out on Thursday afternoon before loading the bus and beginning the drive.  We did have a study hour on the bus but kept ourselves entertained the rest of the trip with some fun movies.  We arrived to our destination late on Thursday night and just went straight to bed to rest up for the competition.

The next day before the competition we headed out to the mall to get our legs active and moving and were very excited to have some delicious Jimmy Johns for lunch!  Everyone was full of energy while getting ready for the meet because we knew that we were prepared and ready to dominate.  During February, most college gymnastics team will host a PINK meet in an attempt to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.  Therefore, for this meet we traded in our Bronco leotards for pink leos and ribbons.  It was great to see that many of the fans were wearing pink shirts and outfits to support the cause.

The competition was a success.  Everyone who competed did awesome and helped contribute to our highest team score of the season: 196.250.  There were highlights on every event.  On bars, with six competitors and two exhibitioners, we hit 8 for 8 routines.  Hannah captured the vault title with an awesome 9.925 along with the floor title with a 9.875.  Beam was incredible.  Everyone was focuses and confident leading our team to its highest beam score of the season with a 48.975 and two event titlist: Kelsey Lang and Lacee Lang.  Amy Glass won another all around title with a combined score of 38.925.  I was so proud of our entire team and can see the improvements being made each week.  We are getting stronger with every competition and it comes from all of the hard work being put into practice each day during the week.

We cannot wait to get back to our home arena and show our Bronco fans what we are capable of.  Please come support your Bronco gymnasts this next weekend in Taco Bell Arena for both the Friday PINK meet against Wisconsin Stout and again on Sunday where we will face the Utah State Aggies for the second time.  We are trying to make history this year and know it will be possible with the support of the Bronco and WAC fans!

Hey WAC fans!

We just got back from San Jose State yesterday afternoon.  It was a pretty special and emotional experience since it was the first time we have been there since Amy's neck injury in 2009.  However, nothing held her back.  She did awesome and received the 2nd place all around title.  There were some tears of relief and happiness after she completed her bar routine.  We were all so proud of her and the entire team and left the campus with our heads held high.

The meet was a very exciting one as we went up against three other teams: San Jose State, Seattle Pacific, and Cal State Davis.  The arena was loud with screaming fans, and we used all of the energy to our advantage.  We started out on bars and did awesome!  Everyone hit their routines beautifully, and Brittany Green even scored her career best of 9.9.  We moved on to the beam where we also did great but had a couple falls.  However, we picked it up on floor and vault to win the competition.  Hailey Gaspar stuck her vault solid and scored a huge 9.95!  This is just what we needed after going into the last event tied with San Jose State.  Pulling out a great win made the entire experience even better.  Our traveling fans and family were so awesome and we always appreciate your support!

We all used our day off yesterday to relax.  Some of us attended the Boise State vs Idaho basketball game where the Broncos came out on top.  Today we will attend practice at 1:45 until about 5:45 and the usual weekly schedule will begin.  Homework, practice, and studying will start to pile high as we prepare for our bus trip to Utah State this weekend.  We cannot wait to get on the road again and show other schools exactly what we are capable of.  That is all for now, keep watching and supporting the Broncos!

Hey WAC fans!

My name is Mallory Dziawura and I am a senior on the Boise State gymnastics team.  I have been doing gymnastics since I was three years old in an attempt to follow in my older sister's footsteps.  I fell in love with the sport immediately and began competing in the second grade.  All of my hard work, commitment, long hours, and determination paid off when I was recruited by the coaches at Boise State.  I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona and chose to come to Boise because of the coaching staff and the team.  I felt like I fit into the family here, I knew my gymnastics would reach its maximum potential with these coaches.  Everyone on this team has made the four years here fly by! I cannot believe I graduate in May.

Last night was our much anticipated Beauty and the Beast competition.  Everyone was so excited to have our first home meet of the season.  We have been traveling for the last three weekends at University of Washington, University of Alabama, and at the University of Arizona.  These trips were fun and included amazing site seeing, such as the tour of the Alabama football stadium, but we were all ready to be back in front of our fans.  Having our top ranked wrestling team competing right by our sides and the support of so many fans made for a fun and exciting night of competition.  The team started off with a bang on vault with a score of 49.025, which carried over into our team's other season bests on bars (49.150), beam (48.925), and on floor (49.075).  Everyone did great and we left the meet feeling confident and pleased with our performance.  Better yet, we were able to accompany this victory with our close friends.  Wrestling was also successful in their match against Utah Valley with a winning score of 32-6.  The energy of our fans was outstanding and we hope to see just as many of our three remaining home meets later this season.

This next week will again be a quick one as we head out to San Jose State this Thursday for our competition on Friday.  The study hours on the plane and in the airports will start to pile on again, but we are all excited to get on the road and show what we can do!  The warmer weather is another bonus!  This season is already going so quickly and I am trying to soak in every last second of it.  We have today off but will be back in the gym tomorrow to watch film before practice starts.  Being able to see the minor details that need to be fixed allows us to focus on them during the week before we get to San Jose.   Having this great meet has increased the team's energy and motivation to keep this momentum building.  That's all for now, but keep watching the Bronco gymnastics team because our goal is to make history this year.

Thanks and see you soon!
