College Station, Texas – A total of five student-athletes represented the Western Athletic Conference at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend in Austin, Texas. Hawai‘i led all WAC teams with a tie for 32nd place.
Boise State
Junior Amber Boucher opened the meet with a time of 22.48 in the 50 freestyle to place 26th in the prelims. Junior Stephanie North was 32nd in the same event with a time of 22.67. Boucher advanced to the consolation final in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.71. She finished in 12th place with an evening swim of 52.90. North finished in 52nd place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.57. Boucher just missed qualifying in the 100 free with a time of 48.79 to place 18th. North tied for 29th in the same event (49.15).
Hawai‘i
Senior diver Emma Friesen finished seventh on the 1-meter board with a score 315.45. She qualified for the finals with a score of 317.15 in the prelims. She finished 26th in the prelims of the 3-meter board with a score of 275.50. Sophomore Taylor Ritenberg swam a time of 2:01.38 in the 200 IM to finish in 43rd during the prelims. She finished 41st in both the 100 breaststroke (1:02.16) and 200 breaststroke (2:13.51).
Idaho
Freshman Shana Lim was 37th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.07. She following that up with a time of 1:58.22 in the 200 backstroke to place 42nd.
