Hawai‘i volleyball players Kanani Danielson, Brittany Hewitt and Dani Mafua, and Utah State's Liz McArthur have been selected to the Collegiate Volleyball Update Stellar Spiker teams. Danielson and Hewitt were first team selections, while Mafua and McArthur were named honorable mention.
Danielson led the Rainbow Wahine and ranked in the Top 10 nationally in kills (4.59) and became the 17th player in the program’s history to eclipse 1,000 career kills. She was the WAC Player of the Year for the second straight year and also named a first team All-American by the AVCA.
Hewitt led the nation in blocking for much of the season (1.68), while also averaging 2.30 kills per set and hitting .365. During the season, she broke two school rally-scoring records for hitting percentage (.917 vs. New Mexico State) and blocking (16 vs. San Diego). The sophomore from Eagle, Idaho, was also an AVCA second team All-American, to the all-WAC first team and to the AVCA All-Region team.
Mafua finished her career fifth all-time in the UH record book in assists (3,745). She averaged 11.19 assists per set and led the Rainbow Wahine to a team hitting percentage of .284. She was an AVCA honorable mention All-American, an AVCA all-region pick and a first team all-WAC honoree.
McArthur led the league in service aces per set (0.33), and ranked third in both kills per set (4.00) and points per set (4.59). Nationally, she finished the season ranked 32nd in points and 34th in kills. McArthur also received honorable mention All-America honors from the AVCA, first team AVCA all-region honors, was MVP of the 2010 WAC Tournament, was a first-team all-WAC honoree and received Academic All-District VIII third-team honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
