Fresno State's Jaleesa Ross has been selected to compete in ESPN's Annual College Basketball Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships as part of the NCAA Final Four activities. The event will take place Thursday night at the University of Houston's Hofheinz Pavilion and will be televised by ESPN2.
Ross is one of 24 athletes participating and one of eight women competing in the three-point shooting contest. She was originally chosen as an alternate, but is replacing Stanford guard Jeanette Pohlen, who is currently in Indianapolis for the women's Final Four.
Ross, who helped the Bulldogs to a 25-8 finish during the 2010-11 season, has long been considered one of the best three-point shooters in the country. She finished her decorated career with 389 long balls, third all-time in NCAA history, and was ranked No. 6 in the nation this season with 3.1 three-pointers per game.
