Nevada 73, Louisiana Tech 70

RUSTON, La. -(AP) Deonte Burton scored 24 points as Nevada held on to defeat Louisiana Tech 73-70 on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack (12-17, 8-7 Western Athletic Conference) led 63-54 with 3:42 left to play, but a 16-8 run, capped by a Lonnie Smith 3-pointer with 6 seconds on the cock, pulled the Bulldogs to 71-70.

Louisiana Tech (12-19, 2-13) failed to get off another shot attempt after Cordarius Johnson turned it over with 2 seconds to go.

Malik Story added 15 points, Dario Hunt had 13 and Olek Czyz 12 for Nevada, which scored 29 points off 26 turnovers.

Kenyon McNeaill scored 21 points for the Bulldogs, who scored only seven points off 13 Wolfpack miscues. C.J. Scott added 16 points and Smith finished with 12.

Louisiana Tech shot 56.8 percent from the floor (25 of 44), outrebounded Nevada 36-24 and posted a 30-24 scoring edge in the paint.


Idaho 69, Fresno State 66

MOSCOW, Idaho -(AP) Kyle Barone came off the bench to score 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting to help Idaho beat Fresno State 69-66 on Thursday night.

Shawn Henderson added 12 points and Landon Tatum had five assists as Idaho (17-12, 9-7 Western Athletic) closed out the home portion of its league schedule.

The win earns Idaho a tie for third and a bye in the first round of the conference tournament next week.

Fresno State (13-16, 5-10) was led by Nedeljko Golubovic, who scored 14 points. Greg Smith and Garrett Johnson combined for 23, the only other two players in double figures.

After blowing a 13-point lead, Fresno State trailed 67-64 with 17 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs had time to set up a 3-point shot for the tie, but Jonathan Willis traveled and gave possession back to Idaho.

Tatum then fired a pass the length of the court to a wide-open Barone, who dunked it to seal the win for Idaho.

Johnson was fouled at the buzzer and finished off a three-point play to pull the Bulldogs within three points.


Hawai‘i 77, San Jose State 71

SAN JOSE, Calif. -(AP) Zane Johnson scored 26 points and Bill Amis added 19 to lead Hawaii to a 77-71 victory over San Jose State on Thursday night.

Vander Joaquim and Bo Barnes scored 12 points each for the Warriors (18-10, 8-7 WAC), who won their fifth straight game and pulled into a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference with a game Saturday at Fresno State remaining.

Adrian Oliver, playing his final home game for San Jose State, scored a team-high 18 points but shot just 5 for 16 from the field. Justin Graham scored 15 points, while Keith Shamburger added 14 and Wil Carter 13 for the Spartans (15-13, 5-10), who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Johnson, who made 6 of 10 shots from 3-point range, scored 18 of his points in the second half, when the Spartans shot just 32.4 percent from the field.
