DENVER
- Fresno State's Remington Blair
and Boise State's Alex Nelson
have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference
Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week
of April 4-10.
Blair,
a junior from Reedley, Calif. (Modesto JC), won the 400-meter dash with a time
of 47.16 at the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge in Sacramento, Calif., last
week. The time leads the WAC and ranks
tied for 41st in the nation. He was also
a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay that posted the second best time in
the WAC this season at 3:14.86.
Nelson,
a junior from Vancouver, Wash. (Evergreen HS), won the hammer throw at the Sun
Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., with a distance of 208-8 (63.60m) for his first
title of the season. Nelson's mark broke
his personal best by nearly 10 feet and is the best in the WAC by almost 10
feet as well.
