Verizon WAC Men' Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER - Fresno State's Remington Blair and Boise State's Alex Nelson have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 4-10.

Blair, a junior from Reedley, Calif. (Modesto JC), won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.16 at the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge in Sacramento, Calif., last week.  The time leads the WAC and ranks tied for 41st in the nation.  He was also a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay that posted the second best time in the WAC this season at 3:14.86.

Nelson, a junior from Vancouver, Wash. (Evergreen HS), won the hammer throw at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., with a distance of 208-8 (63.60m) for his first title of the season.  Nelson's mark broke his personal best by nearly 10 feet and is the best in the WAC by almost 10 feet as well.

Other track nominees included: Manoah Wesson , Boise State; Andrew Blaser , Idaho; Dennis Richardson , Louisiana Tech; and Eric Larson , Utah State.

Other field nominees included: Emmanuel Jackson , Fresno State; Eugenio Mannucci , Idaho; and Joe Canavan , Utah State.
