Idaho's Jarred Bossio and New Mexico State's Suteera Chanachai have been named
the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for April 4-10.
Bossio, a junior from Olympia, Wash. (Capital
HS), finished in a tie for ninth place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in
Scottsdale, Ariz., last week. Bossio was
one of 11 players in the field of 104 under par after carding a 1-under 209
(68-73-68) over the three rounds. It is
the second time in his career that Bossio has won a WAC golfer of the week or
month award.
Chanachai, a senior from Bangkok, Thailand
(Demonstration Yamhumghang University), tied for third place at the Wyoming
Cowgirl Classic held April 4-5 in Chandler, Ariz. She shot an even-par 216 (76-67-73) to finish
three strokes behind the leaders. Her 67
in the second round was a career-best.
Chanachai recorded 10 birdies in the tournament, the second most out of
the 122 participants. Her score helped
New Mexico State to a second place finish in the 23-team field. It is the first time in her career that Chanachai
has won a WAC golfer of the week or month award.
