Sexton
have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor
Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 18-24.
Lewis,
a senior from Stockton, Calif. (Sacramento CC), won both the 100-meter (10.41)
and 200-meter (21.29) dashes at the Cal Brutus Hamilton Invitational held in
Berkeley, Calif. Both times are personal
bests and rank second and third, respectively, in the WAC this season. His 100-meter mark is the third fastest
all-time at Utah State. He also was a
member of the winning 4x100m relay team that clocked the second best time in
the WAC at 40.88 seconds.
Sexton,
a junior from Salem, Ore. (Salem HS), won both the shot put and discus at the Oregon
Relays over the weekend. His distance of
173-0 (52.73m) in the discus set a new personal best by nearly five feet and is
the second best mark in the WAC this season.
His winning distance in the shot put was 53-3.5 (16.24m).
