JODOIN NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Fresno State’s Marianne Jodoin has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week for March 28-April 3.

Jodoin, a freshman from Varennes, Quebec, went undefeated on the week to help Fresno State to a 1-1 record, including a 6-1 WAC victory over Utah State. In singles, she posted straight-set victories at No. 1 over Utah State’s Jaclyn West and Pepperdine’s Arianne Colffer. In doubles, she and partner Laura Pola defeated USU’s Hailey Swenson and Romina Nedakovic (8-6) and beat Pepperdine’s No. 34-ranked duo of Marie Zalameda and Anamika Bhargava (8-2). Jodoin has now won nine of her past 10 singles matches.

Other nominees included: Lauren Megale, Boise State; Katarina Poljakova, Hawai‘i; Molly Knox, Idaho; Florence De Vrye, Nevada; Natalia Salum, New Mexico State; and Hailey Swenson, Utah State.

WAC IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
In the April 5 ITA team rankings, Boise State and Fresno State are ranked in the top 75, coming in at No. 57 and 71, respectively. Meanwhile, in the March 29 individual rankings, Fresno State’s Marianne Jodoin is ranked No. 79. There are currently no doubles teams in the WAC ranked in the top 100.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN BOISE
The 2011 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 27-May 1 in Boise, Idaho.

Top-seeded Boise State earned its first-ever WAC Women’s Tennis Championship last season with a 4-3 win over No. 3-seed Fresno State in the title match. The Broncos’ victory ended the Bulldogs streak of eight straight titles.
