DENVER – Boise State’s Filipp Pogostkin and Fresno State’s Marianne Jodoin have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week for March 28-April 3.

Pogostkin, a sophomore from Bellevue, Wash., was perfect on the week, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles as the Broncos swept Montana State and Weber State in a pair of non-conference duals. He won both his singles matches in straight sets to improve to 14-14 on the year. In doubles, he and partner Andy Bettles posted wins in both matches to move their win streak to 10 straight.

Jodoin, a freshman from Varennes, Quebec, went undefeated on the week to help Fresno State to a 1-1 record, including a 6-1 WAC victory over Utah State. In singles, she posted straight-set victories at No. 1 over Utah State’s Jaclyn West and Pepperdine’s Arianne Colffer. In doubles, she and partner Laura Pola defeated USU’s Hailey Swenson and Romina Nedakovic (8-6) and beat Pepperdine’s No. 34-ranked duo of Marie Zalameda and Anamika Bhargava (8-2). Jodoin has now won nine of her past 10 singles matches.

Other male nominees included: Remi Boutillier, Fresno State; Kristian Kuharszky, Nevada.

Other female nominees included: Lauren Megale, Boise State; Katarina Poljakova, Hawai‘i; Molly Knox, Idaho; Florence De Vrye, Nevada; Natalia Salum, New Mexico State; and Hailey Swenson, Utah State.
