Idaho's Blaser and Nevada's Pate Lead Multi-Events After Day One

Honolulu - Day one of the four-day WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships started with the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon. With five of the ten decathlon events complete, Idaho junior Andrew Blaser is in the lead with 3,732 points. Utah State senior Philip Noble is in second with 3,476 points and Fresno State senior David Deal is in third with 3,469 points. For the women, with four of the seven heptathlon events complete, Nevada junior April Pate is in the lead with 3,277 points. Louisiana Tech junior Jesseka Jones is in second place with 3,250 points, and Utah State freshman Chari Hawkins is third with 3,123 points.

Tomorrow's events begin at 1 p.m. (HT) with the sixth event of the men's decathlon, the 110-meter hurdles, followed by the fifth event of the women's heptatlon, the long jump, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (HT).
