Two WAC women's tennis players have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII At-Large Teams. Nevada’s Aodhnait Lombard was named to the first team, while Utah State's Hailey Swensen was a second-team honoree.

Lombard, a senior from Kellis, Ireland, finished the 2010-11 season with 18 singles victories and 12 doubles wins for the Wolf Pack, which finished third in the WAC with an 11-9 record. She finished her career at Nevada with a 40-28 record in singles play.

Off the court, Lombard carries a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in neuroscience and is expected to graduate in the winter commencement ceremonies. She has won Academic all-WAC honors twice in her career and will likely be honored again this season.

As a first-team selection, Lombard now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.

Swenson, a senior from North Salt Lake City, Utah, graduated with a cumulative 3.98 GPA in psychology in the spring of 2010 and will finish her masters degree in business administration in June, 2011.

A three-time academic all-WAC recipient, Swenson finished her senior season with a 25-7 singles record including a 15-4 mark at the No. 2 position to earn second-team all-WAC singles honors. Those 25 wins for Swenson are a single-season school record.

District VIII is made up of schools from Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Both were selected to the At-Large team, which encompasses the following sports: women’s bowling, women’s crew, men’s and women’s fencing, women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s rifle, men’s and women’s skiing, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s water polo, and men’s wrestling.
