New Mexico State 9, Texas Tech 0 (5)
Alex Newman threw a five-inning no-hitter as New Mexico State run-ruled Texas Tech 9-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Tucson Friday. Newman struck out two and walked to in picking up her first career no-hitter. Ashley Maroda was 3-for-3 with two homers and drove in five runs, while Valerie Swedberg was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Arizona 8, New Mexico State 0
Despite getting eight hits off Arizona starter Kenzie Fowler, New Mexico State stranded 11 runners in an 8-0 loss to Arizona Saturday in the Tucson Regional. Teresa Conrad and Tiare Jennings both tallied two hits in the loss. Celisha Walker suffered the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 3.2 innings.


Texas Tech 6, New Mexico State 4

New Mexico State's milestone season came to an end Saturday night after a 6-4 loss to Texas Tech at the University of Arizona's Hillenbrand Stadium. NM State fell behind 2-0 early in the second inning and the Red Raiders added another in the third for a 3-0 lead. The Aggies tied the game in the bottom of the third after back-to-back home runs from Hoku Nohara and Valerie Swedberg. However, Tech answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to extend its lead to 6-3. NM State added one in the fifth, but the Aggies were retired in order over the final two innings of the game.

The Bulldogs plated a run in the top of the 10th inning to defeat Nebraska 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday in Palo Alto. Demi Walker singled to third base, allowing Diane Runge to advance to third and then score on a throwing error by the shortstop. Michelle Moses earned the complete-game win, striking out 10.

Stanford 3, Fresno State 1
Fresno State fell 3-1 to Stanford Saturday afternoon at Smith Family Stadium. The Cardinal scored a pair of runs in the second on back-to-back RBI singles for a 2-0 lead. Bulldog third baseman Nicole Angene cut the deficit in half with a solo home run in the fifth. Stanford scored an additional insurance run in the sixth and held on to advance to Sunday’s regional championship finals.

Nebraska 5, Fresno State 0
Fresno State ended its season with a 5-0 loss to Nebraska Saturday night at Smith Family Stadium. The Bulldogs mustered three hits off Nebraska's junior ace Ashley Haggeman, including a double by freshman Demi Walker, but couldn't overcome a resurgent Husker squad that scored an unearned run in the first, added another run in the third and tallied three more in the fourth to oust the Dogs from the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
