STANFORD, Calif. - Fresno State's No. 58 singles player Marianne Jodoin fell 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (16-14) to No. 46 Alexandra Poorta of Saint Mary's in the first round of the NCAA Women's Singles Championship Wednesday evening at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.

Due to inclement weather, matches were delayed and pushed back causing Jodoin and Poorta's match to get a late start.

Jodoin started the match off strong earning the first set to her advantage, 6-4. Poorta rallied back and picked up the second set, 6-4.

In the third set, the players battled back and forth eventually going into a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, points were neck and neck until Poorta eventually won 16-14.

"Marianne has everything to be extremely proud about her freshman year," head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "She is disappointed in her narrow loss today but she is a true Bulldog."
