HENDERSON, NEV.-
New Mexico State won its fourth consecutive title at the Club Glove WAC Men's Golf Championship at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev. The Aggies carded a three round total of 875 to win by 13 strokes over San Jose State. It is the Aggies' fifth WAC title in their six years in the conference.
San Jose State senior Mark Hubbard won the individual title after parring the third sudden death playoff hole to defeat Idaho's Damian Teles. Hubbard shot a 3-under par 69 in the final round to card a 4-under 212 for the three rounds. Fresno State's Bryan Hogan was third at 2-under par (214).
In the rest of the team competition, San Jose State was second (888) and Fresno State was third (889). Idaho and Louisiana Tech tied for fourth (901) followed by Nevada in sixth (913). Boise State and Hawaii tied for seventh (921) and Utah State was ninth (950).
Also announced today were the all-WAC teams and top awards. New Mexico State's Tim Madigan was voted the WAC's Player of the Year for the second straight season by the nine head coaches. Freshman of the year honors went to Louisiana Tech's Jack Lempke and Coach of the Year honors went to Scott Lieberwirth of New Mexico State.

New Mexico State took over first place after the second round of the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship. The Aggies followed up yesterday's 289 with a 295 on Tuesday at the 7,313-yard, par-72 Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
Fresno State dropped to second place with a 17-over par 305 in the second round. San Jose State remains in third after posting a 304 for the day.
Idaho's Damian Telles remains the individual leader after shooting a 1-over par 73 in the second round. He is 5-under par (66-73--139) for the tournament. In second, is Fresno State's Bryan Hogan (71-72--143) at 1-under par while San Jose State's Mark Hubbard is the only other player under par for the tournament (71-72--143) at -1. The best round of the day was carded by New Mexico State's Justin Shin who shot a 2-under 70 and moved from a tie for 14th to fourth place. New Mexico State has four players between fourth and seventh place.
In the rest of the team standings, Louisiana Tech, Nevada and Idaho are all tied for fourth place at (605, +29). Boise State is seventh (309-309--618) followed by Utah State (301-318--619) and Hawai‘i (308-313--621).
The three-day tournament concludes on Wednesday with final-round tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Fresno State holds a slim one-stroke lead over three-time defending champion New Mexico State after the first round of the Club Glove WAC Men's Golf Championship at the 7,313-yard, par-72 Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
Idaho's Damian Telles carded the best score of the day with a 6-under par 66 to lead by two strokes. Fresno State had two players in the top three as Bryan Hogan shot a 68 while Brian Sunker had a 70. Also shooting under par with 71's were defending WAC champion Tim Madigan of New Mexico State and Mark Hubbard of San Jose State.
Fresno State shot an even-par 288 on the day followed by New Mexico State at 289 (+1). San Jose State finished at 5-over par and is in third place with a 293. Louisiana Tech is in fourth with 295 (+7), Idaho is in fifth with 298 (+10) and in sixth is Nevada at 299 (+11). Utah State is seventh with a
301 (+13) followed by Hawai'i (308, +20) and Boise State (309, +21).
The three-day tournament continues on Tuesday with second-round tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.

after winning last year at Rio Secco by seven strokes over Nevada. Idaho leads the WAC in scoring average with 287.9 strokes per round with Fresno State in second (291.9).
