DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Karl Benson today issued Utah State University softball coach Carissa Kalaba a reprimand for her post-game comments last Friday that violated the sportsmanship provision of the WAC's Code of Conduct.
Further violations of the WAC's sportsmanship provisions by Kalaba will result in more serious sanctions.
Kalaba also issued a public apology.
"I would like to express my sincerest apologies for being disrespectful regarding the umpires in Friday's games. It was in the heat of the moment immediately following the games and I should not have said anything. I realize that this is a violation of the WAC rules and it will not occur again."
