TUCSON, Ariz.--Fresno State's Aaron Judge and Louisiana Tech's Ryan Gebhardt have been selected to the 2011 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team. The Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team is selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper every year.
Judge broke into the starting line up early in the 2011 season as the Dogs left fielder. He was named the WAC Freshman of the Year. Judge was also a first-team All-WAC and WAC All-Tournament team selections. During his freshman campaign, Judge hit a team-high .358 with 12 doubles, a triple and two home runs. He tallied 67 hits, which is the second most on the team.
Judge started 49 games and appeared in every game but one in his first season with the Bulldogs. Judge also recorded 30 RBIs, 25 walks and 11 stolen bases for the Dogs this year. He finished the season committing only one error and had a fielding percentage of .989.
Gebhardt, a native of Monroe, was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team after ending his freshman campaign with a 17-game hitting streak. He hit .343 in 49 games played with 23 RBI and 24 runs scored. The product of Ouachita Parish High School was named second team all-WAC during the regular season as he played his way into the starting shortstop role. He is one of only four Louisiana players and one of only two (along with Fresno State outfielder Aaron Judge to be named to the Freshman All-America Team.
Gebhardt returns to Louisiana Tech next season after helping lead the Bulldogs to a third place finish in WAC play and a third place finish in the WAC Tournament, recording the program's best-ever run in the tournament.
