FRESNO, Calif. - Despite giving up an early goal, the Fresno State women's soccer team put a lot of pressure on No. 11 Texas A&M, before falling 4-2 in their season opener Friday. Senior Laura Dodd and junior Callie Hancock scored the Bulldogs first two goals of the 2011 season.

Washington State 3, Hawai‘i 1

WAIPAHU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine soccer team gave its best shot at giving Michele Nagamine an upset win in her UH head coaching debut, before eventually succumbing to Washington State, 3-1, Friday night at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium. UH scored early in the game, however, couldn't overcome a second-half hat trick by the Cougars' Eileen Maes.

LAS VEGAS – Sophomore Bailey Hewitt netted her first career goal, senior goalkeeper Liz Boyden made a school-record 14 saves and the University of Idaho women’s soccer team opened its 2011 season with a 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara on Friday. The match was the first of the UNLV Rebel Classic tournament and was the first competition for both Idaho (0-0-1) and UCSB (0-0-1).

Lousiana Tech 4, South Alabama 0


RUSTON, La. - Freshman Abby Sentz (Kingwood, Texas) scored the first two goals of the game to lead Louisiana Tech to a 4-0 victory over South Alabama on Friday afternoon on Lady Techster Soccer Field with the temperature in the triple digits throughout the game. The victory gives the Lady Techsters a 1-0 record while South Alabama drops to 0-1 on the year. Sentz scored her first goal off a rebound on a shot by Scotti Culton (Waterloo, Ill.) in the 41st minute. The Jaguar goalie was able to save Culton's hard shot from the left side but Sentz was in position to put the ball in the back of the net.

EL PASO, Texas (Aug. 19)-The New Mexico State soccer team fell at UTEP, 2-0, in the 2011 season opener after a pair of late goals. Freshman forward Jennae Cambra led the Aggie offense with four shots and two shots on goal. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Erin Wosick anchored the Crimson and White with five saves.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara's Ellie Rice posted two first half goals for her team Friday, which were enough to survive a last-minute charge by the Spartans, as the No. 15 Broncos defeated San Jose State, 2-1, at Spartan Stadium in both teams' season opener.

SANDY, Utah - - Utah State women's soccer improved to 3-0 at its "home away from home," Rio Tinto Stadium, opening the 2011 campaign with a win against in-state rival Weber State at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on Friday. Last season, the Aggies defeated Weber State, 2-1. In 2009, the Utah State stopped Utah in overtime, 2-1.
