Idaho 4, Idaho State 1

MOSCOW, Idaho - Head coach Pete Showler said the University of Idaho women's soccer team had played well in spurts during its 0-2-2 start to the season. On Friday, the Vandals put it all together in a 4-1 in against Idaho State.

Each of the team's four goals came from a different player, and Idaho responded positively after finding themselves in a 1-0 hole in the 11th minute to an Idaho State (3-1-0) team that had claimed victories in three of its first four matches of the year.

Louisiana Tech 0, Tennessee Tech 0

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Louisiana Tech women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in the opening game of the adidas Gamecock Soccer Classic in Jacksonville, Ala. at JSU Soccer Field against Tennessee Tech.

With the tie the Lady Techsters are 3-1-2 for the year and the Golden Eagles are now 2-2-1.

LA Tech outshot TTU 17-8, but could only manage three shots on goal.

Having only one forward able to play hurt the Lady Techsters ability to finish in front of the goal.

"We dominated the game, but couldn't finish," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "We ended the game with three defenders playing as strikers."

No. 14 UC Irvine 2, Hawai'i 1

IRVINE, Calif. -The University of Hawai'i women soccer team nearly pulled a shocker before falling to No. 14 UC Irvine, 2-1, Friday night at Anteater Stadium. The Rainbow Wahine led at halftime, but surrendered two second-half goals in a tight loss.

Facing a nationally ranked opponent in its first road match of the year, the Rainbow Wahine more than held their own, jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a Tiana Fujimoto goal in the 43rd minute. However, the lead would not last as the Anteaters got goals in the 53rd and 80th minute to squeak out the win.

UCI improved to 5-0 on the season, while the Rainbow Wahine continue to look for their first win of the year, dropping to 0-4. UH also remained winless all-time on the road (0-12) against ranked opponents.

Cal Poly 2, San Jose State 0

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Senior Lauren Sanchez led eight Spartans who fired at least one shot Friday with four attempts of her own, as the San Jose State women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to Cal Poly in Spartan Stadium.

Sanchez had one of the team's two shots on goal Friday night as the Spartans (0-4) outshot the Mustangs (3-2), 14-9. "We were creative, we played well, we moved the ball," San Jose State head coach Jeff Leightman said. "I thought, quite frankly, we had a hold of the match the entire match."

UC Santa Barbara 3, Fresno State 2

FRESNO, Calif. - Back-to-back goals by sophomore Morgan Castain were not enough as the Fresno State women's soccer team fell to UC Santa Barbara 3-2 Friday night on the road.

"The team is of course disappointed with losing," said Head Coach Brian Zwaschka. "But I don't think that anyone feels like it's something we can't bounce back from."

The Bulldogs gave up their first goal in three matches early in the contest. Dyanne Anderson put in a rebound after Erin Ortega's shot hit the crossbar to put the Gauchos on the board first. Ortega then slipped in a goal of her own to give UCSB (2-2-1) the 2-0 lead.

Fresno State (2-2-1) fired off its response with less than four minutes to go in the first half. Castain keyed in on a cross from senior Molly Nizzoli to bring the Bulldogs within one.
