Utah State 1, Cal State Fullerton 0 (2OT)

LOGAN, Utah - A Kendra Pemberton blast from over 20 yards gave the Utah State women's soccer team, 1-0, double-overtime win over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday at Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. The goal was the sophomore midfielder's first of the season.

The Aggies improved upon their school-record start by improving to 6-0-0 this season. This was Utah State's third 1-0 win of the season. The Titans closed out its trip to the Beehive State with their second-straight loss after losing to BYU 2-1 on Friday. Cal State Fullerton is 1-3-1 this season. The Titans are 0-2-1 against the state of Utah also earning a tie against Utah earlier this season.

Utah State is now 4-6 against former Big West foe Cal State Fullerton. This was the first meeting between the teams since 2004. In that meeting, the Titans blanked the Aggies 1-0 in Fullerton.

New Mexico State 1, Tennessee Tech 0

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The New Mexico State soccer team captured the Adidas/Gamecock Soccer Classic crown with a 1-0 win over Tennessee Tech.

The Aggies improved to 4-2-0 with their fourth consecutive win en route to their third shutout of the season, while the Golden Eagles fell to 2-3-1.

NM State scored quickly when sophomore midfielder Mary Kate Koziol fired a strike from 30 yards away for her second goal of the season to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead.

Idaho 3, Montana 2

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho women's team started off the game against Montana in fine form on Sunday, then finished it dramatically for a 3-2 victory in the final match of the 2011 Governor's Cup at Guy Wicks Field.

"Today was all about team effort, and so was Friday," Idaho head coach Pete Showler said. "It's coming together, and we're working hard. This was one of those where we had to grind it out to get a win, and we did just that."

Sophomore Bailey Hewitt got things started in the fourth minute when she slammed in a header on junior Lauren Layton's corner kick at 3:17 to start the Vandals off on the right foot, but Montana answered. Chelsea Small rebounded her own missed header off the cross bar at 23:55, but then UM's Erin Craig responded again with her second goal of the game at 65:42.

Fresno State 2, Sacremento State 0

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team defeated Sacramento State 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Bulldog Stadium. It was the team's fourth shutout of the season and eighth straight win over the Hornets at home.

Junior Callie Hancock and sophomore Morgan Castain led the Bulldogs offense with a goal each. Sophomores Tara Boynton and Lauren Lindstrom each picked up their first assists of the season.

The Bulldogs opened scoring in the 16th minute. Castain took a pass from Boynton past a defender and sent the shot in low across Sac State's goalkeeper, Savannah Abercrombie. The goal marked Castain's fourth this season, third in the last two matches.

Ten minutes later, Hancock closed out scoring on a long pass from Lindstrom. After shaking her defender inside the box, Hancock chipped it in over Abercrombie for her third goal of the season,

Louisiana Tech 1, Jacksonville State 0

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Senior Olivia Lukasewich (Woodbridge, Ontario) scored the lone goal of the game to give the Louisiana Tech soccer team a 1-0 victory at the adidas Gamecock Soccer Classic over Jacksonville State on a wet and breezy Sunday afternoon.

"We had to work hard to get the win against a very aggressive JSU team," said head coach Kevin Sherry. "With our lack of strikers available it is important that we are tight defensively."

The Lady Techsters improve their overall record on the year to 4-1-2. The Gamecocks remain winless in 2011 with a 0-6-0 record.

In the 33rd minute Lukasewich beat the goalkeeper to the ball from junior Mo Rockwell (Salt Lake City, Utah) to give Tech a 1-0 lead. The goal was Lukasewich's third of the year and Rockwell was credited with her second assist of the season.

UNLV 2, Nevada 1


RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's soccer team fell 2-1 to UNLV in the final game of the Wolf Pack Invitational Sunday.

The loss dropped Nevada to 1-5, while UNLV moved to 2-3-1.

The Wolf Pack got out to an early lead on Abieyuwa Ogiamien's first career goal in the 12th minute. Ogiamien headed the ball into the back of the UNLV net off a cross from Annabelle Allen.

That lead lasted six minutes, as UNLV tied the contest on Denali Murnan's first goal of the season in the 18th minute. Murnan also scored via a header from inside the 18-yard box. The game winner found the back of the net early in the second half, as Jenn Wolfe scored in the 52nd minute for the Rebels.

Dana Moreno got her first start of the season in goal for the Pack, playing the full 90 minutes and making six saves. In total, UNLV outshot Nevada 14-8.

Long Beach State 3, Hawai'i 0

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team suffered its second straight road loss after falling to Long Beach State, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at George Allen Field.

Two days after pushing No. 14 UC Irvine to the limit in a tight 2-1 loss, the Rainbow Wahine found the going tough against the 49ers. LBSU (4-2) scored two goals in the first 16 minutes of the match and never looked back in handing UH (0-5) its fifth straight loss to start the year.

LBSU's Nadia Link was in on all three goals, scoring the team's second goal in the 16th minute and the third and final goal of the day, less than three minutes into the second half. Link also provided an assist for Shawna Gordon's opening goal in the 9th minute.

The 49ers out-shot the Rainbow Wahine, 15-7, while UH was able to muster just one shot on goal. Junior goalkeeper Kanani Taaca posted six saves in the loss.

UC Davis 5, San Jose State 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Senior Shanelle Furner collected her first points of the season Sunday at Spartan Stadium with a first-half goal and second-half assist as the San Jose State women's soccer team was defeated, 5-2, by visiting UC Davis.

Furner's first goal of 2011 came left-footed in the 40th minute. As the Aggies (3-1) tried to clear the ball away from their goal, Furner collected it about 20 yards out, turned and fired with her left foot into a wide-open left side to cut UC Davis' lead to 2-1.

Furner would later assist on a second goal for the Spartans (0-5) to total three points on the night. The senior placed a ball right at the feet of teammate Kelsy Holm eight yards in front of the goal during the 84th minute. Aggies goalkeeper Taylor Jern, who had entered only moments before, came charging to grab the ball but missed, leaving a wide-open net for Holm to put the ball into. The goal was Holm's first of the year and again cut UC Davis' lead in half, this time at 4-2.
