Fresno State 90, Utah State 67
After a close first half, the Bulldogs opened the second half on a 19-4 run and never looked back, cruising to a 90-67 win at Utah State Thursday. With the win, Fresno State improves to 14-4 on the season and 2-0 in the WAC. The Aggies drop to 11-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Bulldogs shot 51 percent from the field, 38 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. Utah State connected on 42 percent from the field, 28 percent from beyond the arc and 62 percent from the charity stripe. Fresno State also won the rebounding battle, 45-34.
Taylor Thompson and Ki-Ki Moore scored 17 points each to pace the Bulldogs, followed by Rosie Moult with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Blakely Goldberg with 11 points.
The Aggies were led by Devyn Christensen with 22 points, followed by Jennifer Schlott with 12 points and Brooke Jackson with 10. Ashlee Brown pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the loss.
San Jose State 67, New Mexico State 62
With the game tied at 59 with just over three minutes to play, San Jose State outscored the Aggies 8-3 to pick up a 67-62 WAC win Thursday night. The Spartans improve to 7-10 overall and 2-0 in the WAC with the win. NM State drops to 4-14 on the season and 1-2 in WAC play.
SJSU shot 43 percent from the field, 20 percent from three-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line on the game. NM State connected on 37 percent from the floor, 35 percent from downtown and 88 percent from the line. The Aggies out-rebounded the Spartans 44-32, but committed 19 turnovers to SJSU's 12.
Sara Plavljanin led San Jose State with 16 points, followed by Brittany Johnson with 14, Ta'Rea Cunnigan with 13 and Myesha Broaden with 12.
Kaitlyn Soto led all players with 23 points, followed by Erica Sanchez with 20. Tabytha Wampler grabbed 14 boards in the loss.
Hawai‘i 61, Louisiana Tech 46
Kamilah Jackson posted her ninth double-double of the season to lead Hawai‘i to a 61-46 win over Louisiana Tech in WAC play Thursday. The Rainbow Wahine improve to 6-11 overall and 1-1 in the WAC with the win. LA Tech falls to 8-10 on the season and 1-2 in conferece play with the loss.
Hawai‘i shot 40 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line on the game. LA Tech connected on just 26 percent from the floor, 18 percent from downtown and 57 percent from the charity stripe. UH also out-rebounded the Lady Techsters 47-38.
Jackson led all players with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Alissa Campanero added 11 points for the Rainbow Wahine.
LA Tech was led by Shantale Bramble-Donaldson with 15 points and nine rebounds.
