DENVER – Denver senior middle blocker Faimie Kingsley has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14. This is her first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.

The Brooklyn, N.Y., native averaged 4.00 kills on .509 hitting and 1.88 blocks per set as the Pioneers went undefeated on the week. In Denver’s 3-1 win over Texas State, Kingsley tallied 18 kills on .548 hitting to go along with seven blocks. She followed that up with a 14-kill, eight-block performance in the Pioneers’ 3-1 win over UTSA. Kingsley entered the week averaging 2.25 kills on .369 hitting and 1.67 blocks per set.

Other nominees included: Idaho's Allison (Walker) Baker of Idaho averaged 4.29 kills, 3.29 digs and 0.86 blocks per set as the Vandals went 2-0 last week ... Meredith Hays of New Mexico State averaged 3.62 kills and 1.50 digs per set ... UT Arlington’s Ashley Bennett averaged 2.43 kills, 1.00 blocks and 0.43 digs per set ... Ashlee Hilbun of Texas State averaged 3.11 kills on .393 hitting, 1.89 digs and 0.56 blocks per set as the Bobcats went 1-1 on the week ... Utah State’s Rachel Orr averaged 3.38 kills on .382 hitting, 0.62 blocks and 0.50 digs per set last week.
