DENVER - The U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's latest regional
rankings include four Western Athletic Conference schools. With the WAC
Championship a little more than a week away UTSA, UT Arlington, Utah State and
New Mexico State continue to remain among the top 15 teams in their respective
regions.
In the South Central Region, UT Arlington begins the week
ranked eighth in the men's poll, falling from seventh in the previous rankings.
The Maverick women jumped two spots to 13th in the region. UTSA fell from ninth
to 11th in the men's rankings. The UTSA women start the week as the seventh ranked team
in the region, dropping a spot from sixth.
In the Mountain Region, Utah State and New Mexico State come in ranked 14th and 15th in the men's poll, respectively. On the women's
side, New Mexico State moved down two spots to the 10th position. While Utah
State jumped back into the rankings, coming in this week as the 12th ranked
team in the region.
USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined
subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional
representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with
current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA
Regional Championships.
