DENVER - The U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's week six regional
rankings include four Western Athletic Conference schools. With the conference
championships concluded across the nation four WAC schools figure into the
regional rankings.
In the South Central Region, WAC champion UT Arlington jumped
two spots to the sixth spot in the men's poll. The Maverick women fell two
spots to 15th in the region. UTSA remained in the 11th position in the men's
rankings, for the second consecutive week. UTSA, the women's WAC runner-ups continued
as the seventh ranked women's team in the region, holding steady from its week
five position.
In the Mountain Region, WAC runner-up Utah State and New
Mexico State come in ranked 14th and 15th in the men's poll, respectively. On
the women's side, Utah State jumped back up two spots in the rankings, coming
in this week as the 10th ranked team in the region. While New Mexico State fell
one spot to 11th.
USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined
subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional
representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with
current-season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA
Regional Championships.
