UTSA 60, Holy Cross 56


NORFOLK, Va. —(UTSA Media Relations) Junior Jeromie Hill scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half and UTSA opened the frame on a 13-1 run before holding off Holy Cross, 60-56, on Saturday at the Liberty Tax Classic.

Hill added 10 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end, for the seventh double-double of his career to help the Roadrunners even their record at 1-1 on the season. Senior Michael Hale III also contributed 17 points and added four steals and three assists.

Utah State 56, Idaho State 48


LOGAN, Utah - (USU Media Relations) Junior guard Preston Medlin scored a team-high 14 points and junior college transfer Spencer Butterfield added nine second-half points to help Utah State claw out a 56-48 home win against Idaho State here Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.

With the win, Utah State improves to 14-1 in its first game of the year under head coach Stew Morrill, including an 8-0 record at home. Overall, USU has now won 18 of its last 19 season openers dating back to the 1993-94 campaign. USU also improved to 179-15 under Morrill when allowing less than 60 points in a game.
