San Jose State 81, Utah Valley 72
The Spartans improved to 2-0 on the season with an 81-72 win over Utah Valley Thursday.
San Jose State shot 36 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 92 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Spartans also out-rebounded the Wolverines 47-42 and forced 29 UVU turnovers.
Ta'Rea Cunnigan led all players with 25 points and six steals, while Classye James posted a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds.
UC Riverside 94, Utah State 90 (OT)
Utah State was outscored 13-9 in overtime en route to a 94-90 loss at UC Riverside Thursday. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 0-2 on the season.
Utah State shot 39 percent from the field, 26 percent from downtown and 85 percent from the free throw line on the game. UC Riverside edged the Aggies on the boards, 50-49.
Franny Vaaulu led Utah State with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Devyn Christensen added 22 points, six assists, six steals and five rebounds, while Jenna Johnson posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards.
