New Mexico State 81, Southeastern Louisiana 56


LAS CRUCES, N.M.- (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State men's basketball team defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 81-56, in the 2012-13 home opener inside the Pan American Center. Senior forward Tyrone Watson directed the Aggies (1-1) with a career-high 24 points.

Watson was 7-of-10 from the field and 10-of-10 at the free-throw line in 24 minutes of action. Freshman center Sim Bhullar was also in double-digits for the first time with 13 points, and he grabbed seven rebounds. The Aggies shot the ball well in the home opener including 51.9 percent from the field (28-of-54), 50 percent from the 3-point line (4-of-8) and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line (21-of26).

St. Mary's 67, Utah State 58



LOGAN, Utah -(USU Media Relations) Junior center Jarred Shaw recorded his first-career double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds for Utah State, but Saint Mary's Matthew Dellavedova had a game-high 21 points in leading the Gaels to a 67-58 road win Thursday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Saint Mary's, who was returning a BracketBuster game from 2010-11, improves to 2-0 on the young season. Utah State's record falls to 1-1 as it lost at home for just the 19th time in head coach Stew Morrill's 15 years as the Aggies are now 211-19 inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

San Jose State 68, Weber State 67 (OT)


San Jose, Calif.--(SJSU Media Relations) Guard D.J. Brown made four free throws in the final 1:02 of overtime giving San Jose State University a 68-67 win over Weber State in a non-conference men's basketball game.

San Jose State's James Kinney led all players with 24 points. Forward Chris Cunningham was the Spartans (1-2) only other double-figure scorer with 10 points. For San Jose State, it was third game decided by four points or less early in the season.
