ARLINGTON, Texas -(UTA Media Relations) UT Arlington (1-1) battled hard but came up shy Friday night in a 63-59 loss to Oklahoma (2-0) in the Mavericks' season home opener in front of a school-record crowd of 6,421 at the College Park Center.
It was the first-ever visit to UTA by a school in the Big 12 Conference, and the Mavericks surely made the rest of the conference wary of making future treks to Arlington, where the Mavs are 56-15 since the 2007-08 campaign.

California 72, Denver 61
DENVER -(DU Media Relations) University of Denver men's basketball sophomore Brett Olson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a team-high 17 points, and junior forward Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but the Pioneers fell 72-61 to the California Golden Bears at Magness Arena on Friday night.
"We competed extremely hard tonight," head coach Joe Scott said. "Our offense had a lot of opportunities and let us down tonight. We played the way we wanted to play, but you have to give a veteran team in Cal credit for finishing their opportunities."
