Seattle U 74, Sacred Heart 70
After trailing by four at halftime, the
Redhawks outscored Sacred Heart 42-34 in the second half to win the
Washington Dental Service Thanksgiving Tournament title 74-70 Saturday
night. With the win, Seattle U improves to 2-3 on the season.
The
Redhawks shot 54 percent from the field, 13 percent from three-point
range and 71 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Seattle U
edged Sacred Heart on the boards, 35-33.
Sylvia Shephard was
named the tournament MVP and Kacie Sowell was named to the
all-tournament team. Shephard finished with 20 points and nine rebounds,
while Sowell posted a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards. Brenda
Adhiambo added 12 points, while Ashley Ward posted a double-double of 11
points and 10 assists.
New Mexico State 50, UC Irvine 44
The Aggies beat UC Irvine 50-44 to win the Hotel Encanto Thanksgiving Classic Saturday. With the win, NM State improves to 3-2 on the season.
The Aggies shot 35 percent from the field, 42 percent from downtown and 59 percent from the free throw line on the game. NM State was out-rebounded 41-37.
Sasha Weber scored a career-high 20 points, while Stefanie Gilbreath added 13 points and eight rebounds.
