Idaho 68, Eastern Washington 66
Alyssa Charlston hit a layup as time expired to give Idaho a 68-66 win over Eastern Washington Tuesday. With the win, the Vandals improve to 1-4 on the season.
Idaho, which entered the game shooting just 29.8 percent from the field on the season, shot 40 percent, 24-of-60. The Vandals also out-rebounded EWU 42-20 and outscored the Eagles 32-30 in the paint.
Charlston scored 29 points, one shy of her career high. She added six rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.Christina Salvatore added 11 points, while Ali Forde had a game-high 12 rebounds, seven points, six blocks, three assists and two steals.
UT Arlington 77, Houston Baptist 71
Laila Suleiman scored 19 points to lead four Mavericks in double-figure scoring as UT Arlington notched its first victory of the season, 77-71, Tuesday over Houston Baptist at Sharp Gymnasium. With the win, the Mavericks improve to 1-4 on the seaosn.
UTA shot 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from downtown and 80 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Mavs won the rebounding battle, 36-28.
In addition to Suleiman's career high, Aron Garcia added 16 points and eight rebounds, Kelsey Wilson, scored 14 and Malaika Green had 13 points.
Houston 55, UTSA 42
UTSA held Houston to a season-low 55 points, but the Roadrunners shot just 28 percent in a 55-42 loss on Tuesday night at Hofheinz Pavilion. With the loss, UTSA drops to 5-2 on the season.
The Roadrunners also connected on just one of 15 three-point attempts and shot just 54 percent from the free throw line. UTSA was out-rebounded 46-42 in the loss.
Kamra King paced UTSA with eight points, four steals and three assists.
Utah 92, Utah State 64
Utah State women's basketball had its two-game winning streak come to an end with a 92-64 loss to Utah at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City Tuesday. With the loss, the Aggies fall to 2-4 on the year.
Utah State shot 38 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the charity stripe. The Utes ended the game with 27 assists and out-rebounded the Aggies 43-25.
Devyn Christensen led USU with 18 points, while Jenna Johnson added 12 points for the Aggies.
