Denver 57, Northern Colorado 46
After trailing by four at halftime, Denver shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and picked up its first home victory of the season, a 57-46 win over Northern Colorado Thursday evening at Magness Arena. The win brings the Pioneers' record to 2-3 on the season.
DU shot 41 percent from the field, 22 percent from three-point range and 65 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Pioneers were out-rebounded 35-32.
Morgan Van Riper-Rose scored 20 points on 8-12 shooting from the field, while Kailey Edwards set a career high with eight points and Desiree Hunter matched Edwards with a career-high-tying eight points and added a career-high 10 rebounds.
Montana 76, Idaho 65
Five Vandals scored in double figures, Idaho shot a season-high 41 percent from the field and tied the program's single-game three-point record, but 20 turnovers were too much for Idaho to overcome in a 76-65 loss at Montana on Thursday night. The Vandals drop to 1-5 on the season.
Idaho gave itself a chance in the game by connecting on 14 three-pointers, going 14-for-29 (48.3 percent) from long range. That total matched Idaho's program record. The only other time the Vandals connected on as many threes was Dec. 8, 2005 against Utah Valley.
Montana out-scored Idaho 23-7 off turnovers and 38-8 in the paint and shot 43 percent (28-of-65) from the field to pick up the win. Idaho held a slim 37-36 rebounding advantage, and both teams scored six second-chance points.
Christina Salvatore scored a game-high 15 points off the bench for Idaho, while fellow freshman Connie Ballestero scored 13 points. Stacey Barr added 11 points, while Alyssa Charlston and Addie Schivo added 10 points each.
