WAC NOTES

DENVER
University of Denver men's tennis senior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) was eliminated from the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championship ... Bonin fell 6-2, 6-3 to Vanderbilt's Ryan Lipman in the second round of the consolation bracket ... the loss brought the Koper, Slovenia, native's season record to 8-4 ... Denver will begin its spring season Sunday Jan. 6 at the Key Biscayne Invitational in Miami, Fla. 

IDAHO
Idaho men's tennis players Abid Akbar and Marius Cirstea closed out the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships with an 8-5 win over Columbia's Winston Lin and Bert Vancura to win their consolation draw ... the Idaho doubles pairing finished the tournament with a 2-1 record after falling in the main draw to a California team and beating a duo from USC in the first round of consolation play ... The tournament, hosted by Columbia and played at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, featured 20 of the top doubles pairings in the country. 

NEW MEXICO STATE
The Aggies conclude tournament play with a freshman duo, Daniel Fernandez and Naveen Manivannan teaming up to take the title at the Balloon Fiesta Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. ... at the ITA Mountain Regionals, freshman Yannick Blank topped his opponent in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) ... sophomore Germain Degardin took three sets to get the win over his competitor (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) ... both Aggies advanced in the back draw on the final day of competition ... the Aggies head back to the court on Jan. 18, against Texas A&M Corpus Christi at the NM State Tennis Center.

SEATTLE U
Freshman Will Topp (Olympia, Wash.) tallied the team's best singles record in the fall, going 4-3 including a two-set victory over Oregon's Daan Maasland Oct. 5 for the program's first win over a PAC-12 opponent since its reestablishment ... Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) have best doubles records as the pair teamed up to go 4-3 in fall doubles play. 

UT ARLINGTON
Freshman Sebastian Erimicioiu, completed in the second round consolation draws of the Ausitn Invitational, where he defeated players from Lamar, UTPA and Baylor giving him his second win of the fall season ... earlier in the tournament, Erimicioiu defeated TCU's Blake Wiggins ...  this marks the second weekend in a row the freshman has defeated the cross-town rival ... senior Soren Goritzka defeated Baylor's Mate Zsiga in the single draws and Yauheni Yakauleu also took down a Baylor Bear, defeating Robert Verzeal 7-5, 6-3 ... this tournament concluded the fall season for the men, allowing the team to being preparation for the spring season.

UTSA
UTSA closed out competition at the ITA Regional Championships on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center ... the Roadrunners collected three victories, including two in singles competition ... senior Martin Ayala and freshman Diogo Alves Casa continued their strong fall by posting an 8-3 victory against Lamar's Carl-Philip Lindqvist and Mikko Rajamaki in the doubles round of 32 ... the duo lost its following match and were eliminated from the tournament ... Casa tallied a pair of wins in singles play, including a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Texas' Alex Hillard in the consolation quarterfinals ... UTSA concluded their fall season and will resume play on the tennis courts with the start of 2013. 

UTAH STATE
Utah State's men's tennis team had two members compete in consolation brackets Saturday at the ITA Regionals Tournament, as sophomore Curran Wearmouth competed in singles play and doubles play with his partner freshman Zeno Kastelic, being eliminated in both to end USU's fall season action ... Wearmouth went up against Germain Degardin of New Mexico and was defeated in two sets (6-3, 6-3) ... he and Kastelic advanced to the quarterfinals of doubles consolation where they withdrew allowing Du Toit and Hignett of New Mexico to advance ... Aggie men's tennis will commence play again in January for its spring season.
