DENVER
University of Denver senior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) beat New Mexico’s Samir Iftikhar to win his second USTA/ITA Mountain Regional title Sunday at Darling Tennis Center ... Bonin, who beat Iftikhar 6-0, 6-3 in the finals, also won the 2010 USTA/ITA Mountain Regional title and advanced to the semifinals last year ... Bonin’s win clinches an automatic berth to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 8-11 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

The Idaho men’s tennis team is sending a doubles pairing to the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships for the second year in a row ... Idaho will be represented by the team of seniors Marius Cirstea and Abid Akba ... the 20-team doubles draw includes the regional champions from each of the 12 ITA regions, the two ITA All-American finalists, the ITA All-American consolation champion, ITA Small College Champion, one host wild card, one USTA wild card and two at-large pairings ... the first two rounds of the tournament will be played Nov. 8, with the quarterfinals matches being played Nov. 9, the semifinals on Nov. 10 and the finals on Nov. 11.
NEW MEXICO STATE
The Aggies conclude tournament play with a freshman duo, Daniel Fernandez and Naveen Manivannan teaming up to take the title at the Balloon Fiesta Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. ... at the ITA Mountain Regionals, freshman Yannick Blank topped his opponent in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) ... sophomore Germain Degardin took three sets to get the win over his competitor (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) ... both Aggies advanced in the back draw on the final day of competition ... the Aggies head back to the court on Jan. 18, against Texas A&M Corpus Christi at the NM State Tennis Center.

Freshman Will Topp earned the program’s first win over a Pac-12 player since its reestablishment with a straight-set victory over Daan Maasland of Oregon ... Topp won 6-2, 6-4 ... the Redhawks saw a player advance to the main bracket quarterfinals for the second straight tournament ... Seattle U is now 1-0 in singles play against WAC competition in October ... Flavio Malagutti defeated Idaho’s Jake Knox 7-6(6), 7-5 on Oct. 6 ... Topp leads the team with a 4-1 singles record for the fall ... Kevin Lynch and Jason Bediones have the best doubles record ... each going 4-2 in the fall season.

Freshman Sebastian Erimicioiu won the consolation draws at the Texas Regionals in Fort Worth this weekend ... returners Soren Goritzka, Yauheni Yakauleu, Stefan Williams and Sebastian Gomez were joined by newcomers Carlos Aribza and Sebastian Emiriciou for the final matches of the fall season ... Emiriciou defeated Blake Wiggins from TCU 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 to advance to the second round of open singles, but fell to Baylor’s Marko Krickovik in the next round, allowing him to compete in the B Draws ... Erimcioiu defeated Baylor’s Robert Korth 6-3, 6-4 to win the B Draws and take home the team’s first title of the 2012 fall season.

UTSA closed out competition at the ITA Regional Championships on Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center ... the Roadrunners collected three victories, including two in singles competition ... senior Martin Ayala and freshman Diogo Alves Casa continued their strong fall by posting an 8-3 victory against Lamar’s Carl-Philip Lindqvist and Mikko Rajamaki in the doubles round of 32 ... the duo lost its following match and were eliminated from the tournament ... Casa tallied a pair of wins in singles play, including a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Texas’ Alex Hillard in the consolation quarterfinals ... UTSA will conclude its fall campaign at the Texas Fall Invitational in Austin.

Utah State’s men’s tennis team had two members compete in consolation brackets Saturday at the ITA Regionals Tournament, as sophomore Curran Wearmouth competed in singles play and doubles play with his partner freshman Zeno Kastelic, being eliminated in both to end USU’s fall season action ... Wearmouth went up against Germain Degardin of New Mexico and was defeated in two sets (6-3, 6-3) ... he and Kastelic advanced to the quarterfinals of doubles consolation where they withdrew allowing Du Toit and Hignett of New Mexico to advance ... Aggie men’s tennis will commence play again in January for its spring season.
