UTSA’S ADAMS EARNS WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
UTSA junior outside hitter McKenzie Adams has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 4. This is her fourth WAC Player of the Week honor of the season.

The Schertz, Texas native averaged a WAC-best 5.33 kills on .310 hitting to go along with 3.83 digs per set to lead the Roadrunners to a pair of road wins last week. She opened the week with her 16th double-double of the season in a sweep of UT Arlington, finishing with 21 kills on .357 hitting to go along with 14 digs. Her 21 kills was a season high for the Roadrunners in a three-set match. Two days later against Louisiana Tech, Adams tallied a match-high 11 kills and was just shy of a double-double, finishing with nine digs. Adams entered the week averaging 4.19 kills on .206 hitting and 3.74 digs per set.

Other nominees included: Faimie Kingsley of Denver averaged 2.92 kills on .341 hitting and 1.69 blocks per set on the week ... Idaho’s Allison (Walker) Baker averaged 4.56 kills and 2.56 digs per set last week ... Kaytlyn Dill of Seattle U averaged 4.75 kills and 1.75 digs per set on the week ... UT Arlington’s Taylor Gross averaged 2.57 kills and 0.71 blocks per set last week ... Ashlee Hilbun of Texas State averaged 3.00 kills, 3.00 digs and 1.86 blocks per set as the Bobcats went 2-0 last week ... Utah State’s Josselyn White averaged 2.67 kills, 1.44 digs and 0.78 blocks per set in as the Aggies clinched at least a share of the WAC regular-season title with a 2-0 mark on the week.

BAKER EXTENDS DOUBLE-DIGIT KILL STREAK TO 41 MATCHES
Idaho junior Allison (Walker) Baker has posted double-digit kills in 41 consecutive matches, dating back to Sept. 16, 2011. In her two-plus years as a Vandal, the outside hitter has had 10 or more kills in 72 of the 80 matches she has played, or 90 percent.

NEW MEXICO STATE RANKS NATIONALLY IN ATTENDANCE
New Mexico State currently ranks 23rd nationally in attendance with an average of 1,654 fans per match. The Aggies have ranked in the top 25 in attendance every year since joining the WAC in 2005. NM State’s highest ranking as a member of the WAC came in 2005, when the Aggies were 11th with an average attendance of 2,075.

FOUR WAC PLAYERS RANK IN TOP 50 IN BLOCKING
Four WAC players – Denver’s Faimie Kingsley (3rd, 1.67), Idaho’s Alyssa Schultz (24th, 1.38), and Utah State’s Elle Brainard (17th, 1.43) and Kaitlyn Van Hoff (39th, 1.31) – currently rank in the top 50 nationally in blocks per set.

WAC STAT LEADERS
In team statistics, UTSA leads the WAC in assists (13.18), kills (14.35) and digs (18.66). Denver is tops in hitting percentage (.245), while Utah State leads the WAC in opponent hitting percentage (.157) and blocks (3.01), and San Jose State is tops in service aces (1.34).

Individually, Idaho’s Allison (Walker) Baker leads the WAC in kills (4.36) and points (4.86). Denver’s Faimie Kingsley is tops in hitting percentage (.377) and blocks (1.67), while San Jose State’s Michaela Leonard leads the league in assists (11.13). Kaytlyn Dill of Seattle U leads the WAC in service aces (0.40), while UTSA’s Annie Kunes is tops in digs (4.86).

In WAC matches, UTSA leads the league in assists (13.60), kills (14.70)  and digs (19.42). Denver is tops in hitting percentage (.238), while Utah State leads the WAC in opponent hitting percentage (.139) and blocks (2.92). San Jose State is tops in service aces (1.42).

Individually, UTSA’s McKenzie Adams leads the WAC in kills (4.62) and points (5.21) in WAC matches, while Desiree Scott of New Mexico State is tops in hitting percentage (.429). San Jose State’s Leonard leads the league in assists (11.23), while Dill is tops in service aces (0.39). Kingsley leads the WAC in blocks (1.81) and Kunes is tops in digs (5.27).

WAC TOURNAMENT TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Tickets for the 2012 WAC Volleyball Tournament are on sale now. The tournament will be held Nov. 19-21 at the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas, on the campus of UTSA.

The 2012 tournament will consist of seven matches in three sessions (one session per day). Ticket prices are as follows:
All-Session: $21
Single-Session Adult: $10
Single-Session Senior/Youth: $7
Single-Session WAC Students: $5
