Louisiana Tech 52, McNeese State 50
Kelia Shelton scored a career-high 23 points and Louisiana Tech held McNeese State without a field goal over the final six minutes as the Lady Techsters defeated the Cowgirls 52-50 before 2,205 fans at the Thomas Assembly Center Wednesday night. With the win, the Lady Techsters improve to 3-5 on the season.
LA Tech shot 39 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 50 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Lady Techsters out-rebounded McNeese 45-38, but committed 26 turnovers in the win.
In addition to Shelton's 23, Whitney Frazier added eight points and 10 boards, while Brittany Lewis also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Santa Clara 62, San Jose State 47
San Jose State suffered its worst shooting night of the season, hitting just 23 percent from the floor, and lost 62-47 to Santa Clara at The Event Center Wednesday. With the loss, the Spartans drop to 3-6 on the season.
SJSU hit just 15-of-63 field goals and shot 31 percent from three-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line on the night. Santa Clara dominated the boards, 57-38, but committed 28 turnovers.
Ta'Rea Cunnigan led the Spartans with 20 points, while Emily Schill and Riana Byrd grabbed 11 rebounds each.
