UT Arlington 81, Houston Baptist 47
ARLINGTON, Texas- (UTA Media Relations) UT Arlington opened with a 15-0 run and never looked back in routing Houston Baptist 81-47 in a nonconference game Thursday night at College Park Center.
The Mavericks improved to 5-2 on the season and claimed its second consecutive victory behind a stingy defense. UTA took advantage of 15 turnovers by Houston Baptist (3-6) in the first half to build a commanding lead throughout and capped the opener with a Drew Charles 3-pointer at the buzzer to lead 47-21 at halftime.
The lead extended to 31-points with 11:45 to go in the game when Charles found Greg Gainey on a pick-and-roll for an easy lay up and sparked UTA into a commanding win at home. The 34-point spread was the biggest since UT Arlington's 48-point blowout (96-48) against Nicholls on March 7 in the first round of last season's Southland Conference Tournament.

Washington 87, Seattle U 74
SEATTLE, Wash. --(SU Media Relations) Despite a 11-2 run to open the second half, Seattle University men's basketball (3-4) found themselves in too large of a deficit to overcome, and fell to cross-town foe Washington (5-4) in the team's annual matchup, 87-74.
"There's always a lot of hype surrounding this game, and [Washington] came out with great energy and motion," said head coach Cameron Dollar. "The first time there was a loose ball, they dove to the ground, and we were standing. They scored in transition, and were great in the press, but our inability to score early on really set the tone for the game."
The Huskies opened up the contest taking a four point lead, 4-0, and increased their lead, 6-2, on a layup by Aziz N'Diaye, but the Redhawks fought back to come within one two different times before the first media timeout.
