DENVER – Texas State junior forward Ashley Ezeh has been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 10-16. This is her first WAC Player of the Week honor.
The Houston, Texas native (Bush HS) posted her third double-double in a row, with 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in the Bobcats victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The double-double was her fifth of the season and it was also was her fifth-straight game scoring at least 15 points. Thanks to Ezeh’s rebounding, the Bobcats allowed just two second chance points on the night and owned a 46-33 rebounding advantage. She shot 45.5 percent from the field (5-11) and was a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe, helping Texas State improve to 5-3 on the season.
Other nominees included: Denver’s Morgan Van Riper-Rose averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists per game ... Alyssa Charlston of Idaho average 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Vandals fell to Washington ... Louisiana Tech’s Whitney Frazier averaged 10.3 points, six rebounds and 1.7 steals as the Lady Techsters went 2-1 on the week.
