Utah State 70, South Dakota 69
Devyn Christensen drilled a three-pointer with 10 seconds left to give Utah State a 70-69 win over South Dakota on Thursday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the Aggies, who improve to 3-8 this season.
USU shot 47 percent from the field, 33 percent fro downtown and 56 percent from the charity stripe on the game. The Aggies were out-rebounded 63-26 by South Dakota.
Four different Aggies were in double digits in scoring led by 25 points by Christensen. This was her seventh 20-point game this season. Jenna Johnson added 16 points, while Jennifer Schlott scored 12 points and added a career-high eight assists, and Franny Vaaulu finished with 10 points.
Denver 50, Colorado State 48
Denver edged Colorado State 50-48 Thursday evening at Moby Arena. The win brings the Pioneers to 5-6 on the season.
Denver shot 38 percent from the field, 20 percent from three-point range and just 39 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Pioneers won the rebounding battle, 42-38.
Theresa Wirth led the Pioneers with 11 points and five boards, while Emiko Smith finished with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Rice 43, UTSA 41
The Owls hit a pair of free throws with a 10th of a second remaining to rally past UTSA, 43-41, on Thursday night at Tudor Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 6-5 on the season.
UTSA shot 27 percent from the field, seven percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Both teams grabbed 48 rebounds.
Simone Young led the Roadrunners with 12 points, while Whitney Wright tied a career high with 13 rebounds.
Brigham Young 70, Seattle U 62
Seattle U had a double-digit lead early in the second half, but Brigham Young outscored the Redhawks 21-6 over the final seven minutes of the game to pull out a 70-62 victory Thursday at the Marriott Center. With the loss, Seattle U drops to 3-6 on the year.
The Redhawks shot 51 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 61 percent from the free throw line on the game. SU was out-rebounded 25-22 in the loss.
Sylvia Shephard led the Redhawks with 13 points, followed by Daidra Brown with 13 and Ashley Ward with 11.
Gonzaga 97, Idaho 62
Idaho committed 21 turnovers and Gonzaga shot 54 percent from the field Thursday night as the Bulldogs rolled to a 97-62 win in the McCarthey Center. With the loss, the Vandals fall to 3-11 on the season.
Idaho shot 34 percent from the field, 27 percent from downtown and 69 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Gonzaga out-rebounded the Vandals 43-40.
Alyssa Charlston led all players with 21 points.
