New Mexico State 58, South Alabama 52


MOBILE, Ala. (NMSU Media Relations)-The New Mexico State men's basketball team collected its first road of the season with a 58-52 victory at South Alabama. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings led the Aggies (5-4) in scoring with 13 points.

Freshman center Sim Bhullar contributed 12 points off the bench for his third double-digit game of the year. Senior forward Bandja Sy recorded his second career double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, a career-high mark, along with a vital steal in the last 20 seconds of the game. Sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller had nine points including two free throws to seal the game.

Mississippi State 53, UTSA 42


STARKVILLE, Miss. —(UTSA Media Relations) Senior Kannon Burrage scored 15 points, but Wendell Lewis poured in 20 to help Mississippi State hold off UTSA, 53-42, on Tuesday night at Humphrey Coliseum.

Playing their second consecutive game without senior point guard Michael Hale III, the Roadrunners (3-5) could not overcome a 27.3-percent shooting performance and 20 turnovers in their first game played in the state of Mississippi.

The Bulldogs (3-5) got 13 points from Craig Sword and shot 45.7 percent in remaining perfect at home in three tries.

Northwestern State 89, Louisiana Tech 83


NATCHITOCHES, La. --(AP) Shamir Davis scored 20 points to lead Northwestern State to an 89-83 victory over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night.

Gary Roberson had 14 points, DeQuan Hicks 13, and Jalan West and Brison White 13 apiece for the Demons (4-3). Hicks pulled down 10 rebounds, and James Hulbin grabbed 12 and scored seven points.

Kenneth Smith and Raheem Appleby scored 17 points each for Louisiana Tech, Alex Hamilton had 16, and Michale Kyser pulled down 17 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end, to go with seven points for the Bulldogs (7-2), who had won seven in a row after a season-opening 71-59 loss Texas A&M.

Appleby hit a jumper to give the Bulldogs a 67-64 lead with 7:46 left, but Northwestern State's 10-3 run put them ahead for good.

The Demons outshot the Bulldogs 53 percent (34 of 62) to 34.5 percent (29 of 84) from the field.
