Idaho 73, UC Irvine 55
Idaho shot nearly 50 percent in the second half en route to a 73-55 victory at UC Irvine Wednesday night. With the win, the Vandals improve to 2-6 on the season.
Idaho's 73 points in the game were a season-high, and the 55 it gave up were a season-low for a Vandal opponent. Idaho shot 37 percent from the field, and allowed UCI to shoot 38 percent, but the Vandals committed five fewer turnovers than the Anteaters in the game, and owned a 20-9 advantage on the offensive glass, leading to 18 more field goal attempts for Idaho.
Christina Salvatore led Idaho with a career-high 20 points, including 6-of-13 from three-point range. Her six made three-pointers is the second-most by a Vandal in program history. Alyssa Charlston finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds, Connie Ballestero had 15 points and Krissy Karr added 11 points and a season-high nine assists.
TCU 73, UTSA 64
Simone Young scored a career-high 29 points, including 18 straight in the first half, but TCU opened the game on a 15-3 run and never trailed in a 73-64 victory over UTSA Wednesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 5-4 on the season.
UTSA shot 32 percent from the field, 29 percent from downtown and 64 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Roadrunners were out-rebounded 47-43.
Young, who eclipsed her season high of 14 points in the game’s first 10 minutes, added a career-high nine rebounds. Kamra King finished with 10 points and Niaga Mitchell-Cole tied a career high with nine.
UTEP 66, New Mexico State 44
New Mexico State gave up an early lead and could not dig out, falling 66-44 loss to UTEP at the Don Haskins Center on Wednesday Night. With the loss, the Aggies drop to 5-3 on the season.
NM State shot just 21 percent from the field, 18 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Aggies were out-rebounded 49-36 in the loss.
Danesia Williamson led NM State with 13 points, while Jasmine Rutledge added 11 points.
Minnesota 74, Denver 51
Denver fell 74-51 to Minnesota Wednesday evening at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. The loss snapped a string of three straight Pioneer wins, bringing Denver's record to 3-4 on the season.
The Pioneers were out-shot 51-28 percent, but out-rebounded the Gophers 40-39 in the contest.
Alison Janecek led the Pioneers with a career-high 13 points, while Emiko Smith added eight points and four assists and Maiya Michel pulled down 10 rebounds.
