ATHLETES OF THE WEEK (Jan. 23-29)
Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Paige Hunt have been named the Verizon WAC Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 23-29.
Millet, a freshman from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS), won three individual events and was part of a relay win during a dual against Oregon State. Millet captured first place in the 50-meter freestyle (23.98), the 100-meter free (51.51) and the 200-meter free (1:52.71), and swam a leg of the first-place 200-meter medley relay team. She earned first place in all four events in which she competed. Millet was named Swimmer of the Week last week, and this is her third honor of the season.
Hunt, a junior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), won both diving events against Oregon State. She claimed the 1-meter event with a score of 265.85, a new season high. Her score of 291.85 in the three-meter event was just .58 short of the school record, which she set last week. This is the second time this season she has been named Diver of the Week.

Fresno State Bulldogs (4-5)
In its last action, Fresno State finished second at the USD Beach Cup in San Diego, Calif., on Jan. 20-21 ... junior diver Stacey Luke finished first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 294.70 ... the score was a season best, career best and school record for Luke, breaking a 10-year record set by Ashleigh Raley in 2002 ... sophomore Michelle Dockendorf and junior Britney Vogel tied for first in the 100-yard breastroke, finishing with a time of 1:07.86 ... sophomore Hannah Prigge won 3-meter dive with score of 274.80, 50 points higher than second place ... junior Dani Yoho won the 50-free (24.11) ... this week, Fresno State finishes up its regular season on Saturday, battling WAC foe San Jose State.
Hawai‘i Rainbow Wahine (0-3)
In its last action, Hawai’i fell 172-123 in a dual meet against Wisconsin, on Jan. 14... senior Christa Prior won both the 100-meter backstroke and 200-meter backstroke events against Wisconsin ... she touched at 56.19 in the 100 backstroke and at 2:01.91 in the 200 backstroke ... she was also on two relay teams, earning a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay and second-place in the 200-meter medley relay ... senior Daniella Nero won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions ... her score of 339.50 on the 3-meter board was good for second-best in the WAC this season ... Hawai’i is off until the WAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place Feb. 22-25, in San Antonio, Texas.
Idaho Vandals (2-4-1)
Idaho hosted Oregon State last Saturday, settling for a 147-147 tie ... it was the Vandals first home meet of the season ... freshman Rachel Millet captured first place in the 50-meter freestyle (23.98), the 100-meter free (51.51) and the 200-meter free (1:52.71), and swam a leg of the first-place 200-meter medley relay team ... junior Paige Hunt claimed the 1-meter event with a score of 265.85, a new season high ... her score of 291.85 in the three-meter event was just .58 short of the school record, which she set last week ... senior Savannah Bettis broke the school record in the 200-meter butterfly swimming a 2:05.94 ... this week, Idaho hosts Washington State on Saturday, its final dual of the regular season.
Nevada Wolf Pack (5-1)
Nevada swept Seattle in two dual meets last Saturday at the Lombardi Pool, winning the first 53-38 and the second 130-75 ... the Pack never trailed in either dual ... junior Gabby Guieb won the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:08.53 and the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:11.64, and was also on the winning 200-meter medley relay team ... junior Jojo Mi turned in two individual wins, topping the field in the 500-meter freestyle (5:07.60) and 1,000-meter free (10:27.88) ... Nevada is off until the WAC Swimming & Diving Championships, which will take place Feb. 22-25 in San Antonio, Texas.
New Mexico State Aggies (3-6)
In its last action, NMSU defeated WAC opponent Idaho, 171-125, on Jan.21 ... junior Beth Cate paced the squad with three individual victories ... she claimed top honors in the 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter fly and 200-meter individual medley ... sophomore Terrin Seaver posted a pair of individual victories in the 100-meter, and 200-meter backstroke, in addition to a first-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay ... senior Rachelle Bassen won the 1,000-meter free ... sophomore Jaymee Porter contributed with runner-up finishes on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards ... this week, NMSU will close out its regular season against rival New Mexico on Saturday.
North Dakota Fighting Sioux (6-6)
North Dakota swept two dual meets last weekend, dropping South Dakota State, 166.5-127.5, on Friday and South Dakota, 188-111, on Saturday ... the Fighting Sioux won 24 of the events during the two duals ... junior Veronica Medon had a big weekend, winning three individual events, one relay event, earning two second place finishes and one third place finish ... sophomore Rachel Waldbillig won the 3-meter diving competition during both duals, and added a second place finish in the 1-meter competition vs. SDSU ... UND is finished with the regular season, as the Fighting Sioux will next compete at the WAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which take place Feb. 22-25, in San Antonio, Texas.
Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (7-5)
Northern Arizona competed in two events last weekend... the divers competed on Friday and Saturday at the Falcon Diving Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo. ... the swimmer defeated Grand Canyon, ranked No. 3 in the D-II rankings, 152-100 ... junior Fi Connell, sophomores Rachel Palmer and sophomore Stirling Smith each won two individual swimming events ... the divers were paced by senior Holly Frost’s fifth-place finish in the 3-meter competition ... the squad will have three weeks to further prepare for the WAC Swimming & Diving Championships, which will take place Feb. 22-25 in San Antonio, Texas.
San Jose State Spartans (6-1)
San Jose State was off last week ... in its last action, SJSU topped CSU Bakersfield 156-104 on Jan. 20, defeating the Roadrunners for the second time this season ... sophomore Briana Swinney was a three-time winner, swimming a leg on the Spartans’ winning 200-meter medley relay, before taking the 50-meter backstroke (28.25) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:00.04) ... sophomore Darcie Anderson also grabbed a trio of victories, with a part in the 200-meter medley relay win, along with first-place finishes in the 50-meter breaststroke (29.73) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:04.10) ... this week, SJSU travels to face WAC foe Fresno State, closing out the regular season.
