New Mexico State 80, Utah State 69


LOGAN, Utah (NMSU Media Relations)-The New Mexico State men's basketball team defeated Utah State, 80-69, in Logan, Utah for the first time since Feb. 11, 2006.

The Aggies improved to 18-8 and 7-3 in the WAC with their first sweep of the Navy-clad Aggies (13-13, 5-6) since the 2005-06 season.

NM State had four players in double-figures with redshirt senior forward Wendell McKines leading the way with a game-high 20 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Hernst Laroche had 16 points and seven assists. Junior forward Bandja Sy supplied 13 points, while senior center Hamidu Rahman had 10.

Nevada 76, San Jose State 70


SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Olek Czyz scored 23 of his career-high 27 points in the second half, helping Nevada fend off another challenge to beat San Jose State 76-70 on Saturday night.

Malik Story scored 15 of his 23 in the first half for the Wolf Pack (21-4, 10-1 Western Athletic), who won their ninth straight on the road. Dario Hunt added 11 points and 12 rebounds.

James Kinney scored 26 points to lead the Spartans (8-17, 1-9), and Keith Shamburger had 17.

Nevada, which has won 18 of its past 19 games, was involved in its sixth consecutive game decided by fewer than 10 points, and its 14th overall.

Idaho 73, Louisiana Tech 64


MOSCOW, Idaho – (UI Media Relations) Louisiana Tech made Idaho work for it, but the Vandals got a 73-64 victory on Saturday at Cowan Spectrum to give them a season-high four-game win streak.

Junior center Kyle Barone put together a third dominating performance this week with 14 points and a career-high-tying 15 rebounds, along with three blocks and one assist. The Vandals shot 54.5 percent as a team and completed their first season sweep of LA Tech in series history.

With the win, Idaho moves to 15-11 overall and 7-4 in the Western Athletic Conference, while Louisiana Tech loses its fourth in a row to go to 11-14 and 3-7 in WAC play.

Hawai‘i 62, Fresno State 58


HONOLULU-- Vaner Joaquim scored a game-high 23 points with 12 rebounds as Hawai‘i defeated Fresno State 62-58 on Saturday night in Honolulu.

Joaquim connected on 10-of-14 shots from the field, including a 3-of-6 mark from the charity stripe. Hauns Brereton and Joston Thomas were also in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
