Fresno State 61, Louisiana Tech 59
After trailing by as many as 13 in the first half, Louisiana Tech's last second shot to tie the game fell short and the Lady Techsters fell 61-59 to Fresno State in another epic match-up between the two teams. With the win, the Bulldogs remain the only unbeaten team in WAC play at 7-0 and are 19-4 on the season. LA Tech drops to 11-11 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Fresno State shot 44 percent from the field and 69 percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs, which rank second nationally in three-pointers per game, went 0-for-8 from three-point range. The Lady Techsters shot 40 percent from the field, 33 percent from downtown and 91 percent from the charity stripe on the game. LA Tech out-rebounded Fresno State 36-34, but committed 20 turnovers on the game, comared to the 13 of the Bulldogs.
Ki-Ki Moore paced Fresno State with 20 points, while Madison Parrish added 15. Rosie Moult grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Angie Felton and Shantale Bramble-Donaldson led Tech with 13 points apiece, while Whitney Frazier added 12.
Utah State 69, Hawai‘i 55
For only the second time since joining the WAC, Utah State captured both ends of the road trip at San Jose State and at Hawai‘i as the Aggies defeated the Rainbow Wahine 69-55 at the Stan Sheriff Center Saturday night. With the win, Utah State improves to 15-6 overall and 6-1 in the WAC, its best start ever. Hawai‘i falls to 8-14 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Utah State shot 41 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 71 percent from the charity stripe. Hawai‘i shot 33 percent from the field, 20 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Rainbow Wahine edged the Aggies on the boards, 40-36.
Devyn Christensen scored a season-high 25 points, including the first 15 points of the game. Brooke Jackson added 16 points, while Ashlee Brown and Maddy Plunkett both scored 11 points.
Breanna Arbuckle led UH with 19 points, while Kamilah Jackson pulled down 14 rebounds.
Idaho 67, San Jose State 63
A 7-0 run to close the game erased a late deficit and gave Idaho a 67-63 win over San Jose State Saturday night. With the win, the Vandals improve to 7-16 on the season and 2-5 in conference play. The Spartans drop to 8-14 overall and 3-4 in the WAC.
The Vandals shot 39 percent from the floor, 31 percent from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. The Spartans connected on 38 percent from the field, 33 percent from downtown and 68 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Idaho owned a 41-36 rebounding advantage.
Krissy Karr finished with 13 points and a career-high 10 assists, while Alyssa Charlston had 14 points and matched her career high with 16 rebounds in the game.
Keri Arendse finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Brittany Johnson led San Jose State with 15 points, followed by Palagi Atoe with 14 and Ta'Rea Cunnigan with 13.
New Mexico State 70, Nevada 50
The Aggies snapped a four-game losing streak with a 70-50 win over Nevada in WAC action Saturday afternoon. With the win, NM State improves to 5-17 overall and 2-5 in conference play. The Wolf Pack drops to 5-17 on the year and 1-6 in the WAC.
The Aggies shot 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and 67 percent from the free throw line on the game. Nevada connected on 33 percent from the field, 33 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe. NM State edged the Wolf Pack on the boards, 36-35.
Tabytha Wampler posted game highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds, while Kelsie Rozendaal added 12 points.
Kayla Williams led the Pack with 12 points, followed by Kate Kevorken with 11 and Chanelle Brennan with 10.
