DENVER – Fresno State’s Augun Turner and Nevada’s Deborah Amoah have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 5-11.
Turner, a sophomore from Lemoore, Calif. (Lemoore HS), stepped it up in the absence of teammates Breeauna Thompson and Shanelle Stephens falling ill as Cal Poly hosted Fresno State over the weekend. Turner won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.41 and placed second in the 100-meters. She was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that finished first with a time of 47.25.
Amoah, a junior from Berlin, Germany (Carter HS), recorded a leap of 40 feet, 11 inches (12.47 meters) in the triple jump to place second at the Aggie Open in Davis, Calif. last weekend. The mark is less than an inch from her personal outdoor best.
