ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (March 5-11)
Fresno State’s Jean-Charles Diame has been named Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men’s  Tennis Athlete of the Week for March 5-11.

Diame, a senior from St. Jean des Navrets, France, earned a victory in both singles and doubles against Wisconsin last Saturday. The senior earned the first Bulldog victory in singles with his win over Rod Carey, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.  He and partner Sai Kartik Nakireddi opened the Bulldog victory with a, 8-4, win over Alex Robles and Rod Carey, in doubles action. The Bulldogs are now the 14-ranked team in the nation.

WAC IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
In the March 6 ITA rankings, Fresno State is the lone ranked WAC team at No. 14.

Individually, the WAC has three singles players ranked in the top 100. Remi Boutillier of Fresno State is the top-ranked WAC player, at No. 17, while his teammate Francis Alcantara is No. 52. Wessim Derbel of Nevada garnered a ranking of No. 87. In doubles, the lone WAC team ranked is Idaho’s Andrew Dobbs and Marius Cirstea, at No. 42.

TEAM RECAPS
FRESNO STATE

No. 14 Fresno State improved to 11-1 on the season with two victories last week. The Bulldoges topped Wisconsin, 4-3, on Saturday and Idaho, 6-1, in WAC dual on Monday.

This week, the Bulldogs host #53 Oregon in the third of a six-straight duals at home.

HAWAI’I
Hawai’i went 1-1, falling to #4 UCLA, 7-0, and earning its first WAC win of the year, over Nevada, 4-3, on Monday. A scheduled match against North Carolina was cancelled due to rain.

This week, Hawai’i concludes its road trip in California against Loyola Marymount on Wednesday.

IDAHO
Last week, Idaho went 1-3 on a four-dual swing through California. The Vandals began the trip with a 4-3 victory over St. Mary’s, before falling to Santa Clara (7-0), Wisconsin (4-2) and Fresno State (6-1).

This week, the Vandals travel to Boise, Idaho, where UI will face Arizona.

NEVADA
Last week, Nevada went 0-2, falling to UC Santa Barabara, 6-1, and WAC foe Hawai’i, 4-3. Both matches took place in Santa Barabara, Calif.

This week, Nevada is off. The Wolf Pack resume action against UAB on March 20, in Boise, Idaho.

NEW MEXICO STATE

Last week, New Mexico State went 0-3, falling to Air Force (4-3), #42 San Diego State (5-2) and Arizona (5-2).

This week, the Aggies are off. NMSU will travel to Fresno State on March 20 for its next action.

UTAH STATE

Last week, Utah State dropped two duals in Las Vegas, Nev., falling to UNLV, 7-0, and Northern Arizona, 5-2.

This week, the Aggies are off. USU is in action next against UAB, on March 21, in Boise, Idaho.
