Fresno State 65, Louisiana Tech 62
The Bulldogs clinched the WAC regular-season title outright with a 65-62 win over Louisiana Tech Thursday. With the win, Fresno State improves to 24-5 overall and 12-1 in WAC play. LA Tech drops to 15-13 on the season and 8-5 in the conference.
The Bulldogs shot 33 percent from the field, 21 percent from three-point range and 74 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Techsters connected on 46 percent from the field, 40 percent from downtown and 67 percent from the charity stripe on the game. Tech edged Fresno State on the boards, 41-40, but committed 22 turnovers.
Ki-Ki Moore led Fresno State with 18 points, followed by Rosie Moult with 16 and Blakely Goldberg with 14.
Jasmine Bendolph led LA Tech with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Whitney Jones finished with 19 points and Shantale Bramble-Donaldson grabbed 11 boards.
Utah State 85, Hawai‘i 64
The Aggies set the school record for wins in a season with an 85-64 win over Hawai‘i Thursday. With the win, Utah State secured the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament and improves to 19-8 overall and 10-3 in WAC play. The Rainbow Wahine drops to 11-17 on the year and 6-7 in the WAC.
Utah State shot 53 percent from the field, 47 percent from three-point range and 100 percent from the free throw line. Hawai‘i connected on 44 percent from the field, 42 percent from beyond the arc and 85 percent from the line. The Rainbow Wahine edged the Aggies on the glass, 30-28, but committed 20 turnovers in the loss.
Utah State was led by Ashlee Brown, who posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 assists. Devyn Christensen scored a game-high 23 points, while Brooke Jackson added 19.
Hawai‘i was paced by Breanna Arbuckle with 18 points. Kamilah Jackson added a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Idaho 70, San Jose State 65
The Vandals kept their hopes of being the No. 4-seed in next week's WAC Tournament alive with a 70-65 win over San Jose State Thursday. With the win, Idaho improves to 10-19 on the season and 5-8 in WAC play. The Spartans fall to 11-17 overall and 6-7 in the conference.
Idaho shot 42 percent from the field, 30 percent from three-point range and 32 percent from the free throw line on the game. San Jose State connected on 37 percent from the floor, 38 percent from downtown and 83 percent from the line. The Spartans won the rebounding battle, 46-37, but committed 14 turnovers to Idaho's six.
Keri Arendse and Tayler Weiks led the Vandals with 14 points, while Stacey Barr added 11 and Ganeaya Rogers had 10.
San Jose State was led by Brittany Johnson with 26 points, while Myesha Broaden posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards.
Nevada 68, New Mexico State 56
The Wolf Pack ended a nine-game losing skid with a 68-56 win over New Mexico State in WAC action Thursday. With the win, Nevada improves to 6-22 on the season and 2-11 on the conference. The Aggies fall to 6-22 overall and 3-10 in WAC play.
Nevada shot 42 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range and 72 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Aggies connected on 42 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the arc and just 42 percent from the charity stripe on the game. NM State won the rebounding battle, 39-32, but committed 17 turnovers to the Wolf Pack's 10.
Kate Kevorken led Nevada with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kayla Williams added 15 points and Danika Sharp had 13.
New Mexico State was led by Kelsie Rozendaal with a game-high 20 points. Tabytha Wampler grabbed 11 boards.
