DENVER – New Mexico State’s LaSasha Aldredge and Utah State’s Lindsey Spencer have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 12-18.

Aldredge, a junior from Fresno, Calif. (Central East HS), finished the 200- and 400-meters in WAC-leading times of 24.32 and 54.68, respectively, at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Ariz. over the weekend. Aldredge’s time in the 200m is a career-best and places seventh all-time in the NM State record books. The junior also helped the Aggies finish the 4x100 relay with a WAC-leading time of 46.39 and the 4x400 relay in 3:50.61, which currently ranks second in the conference.

Spencer, a senior from Ogden, Utah (Fremont HS/Weber State), shattered two USU school records at Arizona's Willie Williams Classic and Dave Murray Distance Carnival in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday and Saturday. Spencer passed former Aggie great and All-American Krista Larson for the top Aggie spot in the hammer throw with a toss of 60.30 meters (197 feet, 10.00 inches) while also setting the record in the discus with a mark of 53.10m (174-02.00) to win the event. Both marks are the best in the WAC this season for each event.
