DENVER – Fresno State’s Remington Blair and Idaho’s Mike Marshall have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 9-15.
Blair, a senior from Reedley, Calif. (Modesto Junior College), won the 400-meter dash at the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge in Sacramento, Calif. last weekend with a WAC-leading time of 47.66. Blair also ran in the 4x400m relay that earned second after finishing 0.08 seconds behind the winner and just 0.01 seconds off the Bulldogs’ season-best time of 3:15.28.
Marshall, a senior from Yakima, Wash. (Yakima Valley CC), won the javelin at the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge in Sacramento, Calif. over the weekend. He finished first with a 10-foot career-best mark of 217 feet, nine inches (66.38 meters), leading the WAC by over two feet in the event so far this season. The performance also moves Marshall into fourth all-time at Idaho in the event.
