New Mexico State 3, Louisiana Tech 2
LAS CRUCES, N.M. - (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team (28-11, 5-2 WAC) ended its two-game losing streak by defeating Louisiana Tech (17-20, 1-6 WAC) 3-2 on a walk-off single by junior second baseman Parker Hipp.
The Aggies were down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth when senior designated hitter Kurt Snowley got on base with a lead-off bunt down the third base line for a hit. After the next Aggie batter struck out looking, senior Tanner Waite, who leads the league in walks, reached base on balls. A fly-out by senior Bryan Karraker put the Bulldogs one out away from a victory, but NM State was not done playing yet.
A wild pitch by Louisiana Tech pitcher Caleb Dudley moved Snowley over to third, while the La. Tech catcher attempted to get Waite moving over to second but threw the ball into centerfield allowing Snowley to score, while Waite moved over to third. Hipp came to the plate and hit a single in front of the Bulldog leftfielder that allowed Waite to score giving NM State its 28th win of the year.
