Sacramento State 7, San Jose State 2
SAN JOSE, Calif. – (Sacramento State Media Relations) The sixth inning proved to be magical for the Hornets once again, as the Sacramento State baseball team scored three runs in the frame to take the lead against San Jose State en route to a 7-2 victory on Friday night in a Western Athletic Conference game at Municipal Stadium.
Head coach Reggie Christiansen’s squad improved to 20-0 on the season when leading after the sixth inning. The Hornets have been trailing in four of their last seven games before rallying in the sixth inning.
Sacramento State (23-19, 6-4 WAC) scored seven runs on 10 hits with no errors. Sophomore RHP Dallas Chadwick (4-1), the reigning WAC pitcher of the week, earned the win after throwing a complete game with two runs allowed on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
San Jose State (19-18, 4-3 WAC) tallied two runs on seven hits. Reliever Mike Aldrete (5-1), took his first loss of the year after giving up three runs on three hits in 0.2 innings with two walks.
The Spartans scored single runs in both the first and second innings to take an early lead but the Hornets used the sixth inning to once again take the lead for good.

Nevada 8, Fresno State 2
RENO, Nev. – (Nevada Media Relations) Trailing 2-0 after four innings the University of Nevada (23-18, 6-4 WAC) baseball team scored eight unanswered runs to defeat Fresno State (17-21, 1-6 WAC) 8-2 in the first game of a three-game Western Athletic Conference series at Peccole Park Friday night. The Wolf Pack improved to 23-18 and 6-4 in WAC play while the Bulldogs fell to 17-21 and 1-6 on conference action.
FS scored single runs in the first and fourth innings but Nevada answered with three runs in the fifth to move in front to stay 3-2. Joe Kohan drove home two of the runs in the inning.
Center fielder Jameson Rowe doubled home two runs as part of Nevada’s four-run sixth inning. After an intentional walk to Carlos Escobar loaded the bases with two down in the seventh Kohan walked to force home the Pack’s final run of the game.
Bradey Shipley (7-3) earned his seventh win of the season allowing two runs in seven innings on the mound. Elliott Van Gaver and Colby Blueberg closed out the game pitching a scoreless inning each. Tyler Linehan (3-5) suffered the loss giving up seven runs, six earned in his six innings of action.

Louisiana Tech 9, Hawai‘i 4
RUSTON - (LT Media Relations) Freshmen Bre'shon Kimbell hit a three run home run and drove in four and Phil Maton pitched struck out seven hitters in seven innings as Louisiana Tech (19-23, 2-9 WAC) defeated Hawai'i (25-17, 5-3 WAC) in Western Athletic Conference play on Friday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
Kimbell went 1-for-4 with a career-high four RBI as the freshman hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead. Maton (6-4) allowed just six hits and four runs - three earned - and struck out seven for his sixth victory and first win since March 27 (vs. Northwestern State).
Jamie Gilley entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the eighth inning as Tech led 7-4 and struck out the first two batters he faced before retiring third baseman Collin Bennett to strand all three runners. Gilley went on to pitch a perfect ninth and went 2.0 innings, striking out two without allowing a hitter to reach first base to pick up his first save on the year.
"Gilley and Maton did an outstanding job tonight and they've been doing that all season for us," said head coach Wade Simoneaux. "We took care of today and we have to take care of tomorrow. We can't continue to put pressure on ourselves."
Jarrett Arakawa (5-4) was charged with his fourth loss of the season after allowing seven runs - six earned - on seven hits in 3.2 innings.
Ryan Gebhardt went 2-for-3 with two singles and a walk to raise his batting average to .324 through 42 games. The sophomore shortstop recorded his 19th multi-hit game and added two runs and an RBI. Alex Williams went 2-for-5 with one run and Justin Gordey was 2-for-4 at the dish with two runs.

Baylor 5, New Mexico State 0
WACO, Texas - (NMSU Media Relations) The nationally ranked New Mexico State baseball team (30-12) fell to No. 3 Baylor (37-8) 5-0 at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, Texas, Friday, April 27.
The game was 0-0 through five and a half innings before the Bears finally got to Aggie starting pitcher Ryan Beck in the bottom of the sixth. Baylor tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth one in the seventh and another in the eighth and completed the shutout using three pitchers. NM State used six pitchers on the evening including right hander's Tyler Mack, Michael Ormseth and Randy Montoya along with lefties Robert Kraft and Trey Ross.
Beck finished the evening going six innings and picked up six strikeouts, while the Bears' starting pitcher, Josh Turley, had a no-hitter going until Aggie senior leftfielder Tanner Waite picked up a single down the leftfield line. Turley, a potential All-American and finalist for a pitcher of the year award, tallied five K's, two walks and hit two batters.
